ACADEMICS

Academic Overview

Academics in any educational institution requires to be holistic and encompassing all aspects of a child's development. And Ascent Academy strongly subscribes to this view. As such our vision is to provide a strong and broad foundation to each and every student who chooses to be an Ascentian.

Our school's curriculum aims towards engaging students in their respective classes and subjects through activity-based learning where they learn concepts by doing and discussion rather than a one-way delivery method. The ultimate idea is to encourage students to understand and analyze concepts, form opinion, and make informed decisions and thereby become confident individuals with a broad and balanced mind. Making academics interesting is a challenge and our earnest efforts are directed towards achieving this feat.

Rewarding students for every small achievement goes a long way in encouraging them to excel. And at Ascent Academy, we practice this with students from junior to senior level as it helps to instill a lifelong love for learning and excelling in all students.

Examination System

Examinations are a method to test how much the students have learned, understood and assimilated rather than test of their areas of ignorance. Therefore, at Ascent Academy, we encourage students to remain updated with their lessons and conduct tests as a means of assessing their knowledge in a holistic context.

The major Examinations throughout the Academic session include -
  1. Unit Test I - June
  2. Half-yearly Exam - September
  3. Unit Test II - December
  4. Final Exam - February

The Unit Tests carry 50 marks, and the Half-yearly and Final Exams are on 100 marks of which 80 marks will be written and 20 marks on the internals assessments. Continuous internal assessments are done by the subject teachers based on students' class participation and projects. Apart from the scheduled Examinations, end-of-chapter tests are conducted by the respective subject teachers in class as a way of revision and retention of the concepts learned.

The above system is followed for students from Class 1 to 8.

For Class 9 and 10, the assessments are done as specified by Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA).

Curriculum

The Ascent Academy High School follows the SEBA (Secondary Education Board of Assam) curriculum/syllabus.

The Ascent Academy Junior College follows the AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) curriculum/syllabus.
