As students return to school, especially after COVID, gaps in their progress level is expected and acceptable as everyone's experience of learning remotely is different. Some students may have engaged more with home education than others while some may have chosen to avoid things they enjoy less or feel they aren't good at. Our efforts would be to understand their progress, identify any gaps and help prepare them for their exams.
Every child is different and therefore their level and pace of understanding is also likely to be different. While general teaching will take place in every grade, customized learning programs would also be implemented through which the pace of learning and the instructional approach would be optimized for the needs of each learner. Learning Objectives, Instructional Approaches, and Instructional Content (and its sequencing) may be adjusted based on learner's needs.
Learning becomes as good as the teachers' involvement. Engagement of trained and experienced teachers is what makes learning fun and enriching. The constant need to remain updated with the advancements in course content as well as padegogy cannot be undermined. As such Training of Trainers (TOT) through regular sessions will be conducted as that would help the teachers to give their best as well as bring out the best in the students.
The Teacher:Student Ratio is extremely crucial in the Teaching-Learning process. Teachers need to teach, monitor and evaluate every student in various aspects and thereafter take them along in making education an engaging and elevating experience. And this is possible only when teaching-learning takes place in small groups where every student gets equal attention as well as opportunity to express themselves.
Education in any form demands that basic concepts of learning are inculcated and well assimilated with simplicity but with clarity. And a test of students' accurate understanding of the concepts is equally necessary to determine their ability to apply the concepts in the real context. Competitive Exams like the Olympiads, NTSE etc. are crucial in evaluating how well students have understood the concepts besides clarifying the fields towards which a child is more inclined from an early age.
Competitive exams at school level are intended to measure the exam-takers' knowledge, aptitude, reasoning, and other skills based on the topic of the exam. Such Competitive exams include the Olympiads, NTSE, NLSTSE, IOS, SOF, etc.
At Ascent Academy, we intend to train students to actively participate in such competitive exams from an early age. Children should understand that taking part in these exams is actually about developing skills like goal-setting, dedication, hard work, focus, etc. Moreover, students get the scope to earn merit ranks, scholarships,and awards.
When students get accustomed to facing competitive exams, by the time they have to take exams like NEET, JEE, KVPY, CUET etc, they are well-versed with critical thinking and analytical skills. Thus their confidence and performance in such exams are much better and chances of cracking those are also higher.
